The second primary school on site will be delivered by Hampshire County Council and is expected to welcome its first pupils in September 2025. The school will be known as Newlands Primary Academy.
Situated to the south west of the site, the school will have direct access to the Berewood Community Nature Reserve.
Part of the Local Centre, the Nursery will provide outstanding care for your family in a convenient location.
Near to Berewood Primary School and within walking distance of the rest of the site, the Nursery will cater to families on the development.
The first of two schools to be built on site, Berewood Primary School provides children with an excellent education that instils in them a love of learning to take them forward joyfully in life.
Located in Kentidge Way (PO7 3BE), the school supports children aged between 4 and 11 years old and is run by the University of Chichester Academy Trust
The school building has bright classrooms and a library at its heart.
In addition to the standard curriculum, the school focuses on enrichment sessions both locally and further a field. They also take advantage of their vast outdoor provision and are currently part of the “Wilder Schools Programme” that is run by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, funded by Grainger Plc.
The school is fully accessible for all children, including those with physical and sensory needs or where English is not a first language.
The latest OFSTED report from January 2023 rated the school as ‘Good’, describing it as a happy and welcoming place with a highly skilled teaching staff.

Outdoor Spaces and Activities
Berewood Community Nature Reserve runs down the west of the site, providing over 120 acres of beautiful green space for everyone to enjoy.
The Nature Reserve includes Newlands Meadow, open fields and stunning ancient woodland.
Perfect for dog owners, families, exercise fans, and those who just want to spend a relaxing moment in nature.
The Nature Reserve has a network of footpaths and a bridleway running through, providing access for cyclists and horse riders as well as visitors on foot/wheelchair.
A planning application has been submitted to enhance the Nature Reserve with children’s play equipment, dog agility areas, and improved footpaths.
Berewood Town park includes children’s play equipment, a MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) with basketball nets, a skate park, and areas for picnics and outdoor events.
Play is not confined to a single space, but incorporated into the landscape as a whole so that there are opportunities for play around every corner.
A planning application has been submitted for the second phase of the park which will include tennis courts, five-a-side football pitch, trim trail, nature areas, pond restoration and community open space.
One of the highlights of Town Park is our fantastic skate park.
Suitable for all ages and abilities, the park features 650sqm of ramps, 15° and 20° banks, rails and ledges.
Visitors travel from far and wide to enjoy this facility as it is one of the best in Hampshire.
The River Wallington runs across the north of the site, and over the past year has been transformed from a small concrete culvert into a free flowing river.
New wildlife has already taken up residence, including a Heron, Kingfisher, Egrets, Marsh Frogs, Dormice, Skylarks, various birds of prey and for the first time ever, fish!
As well as additional plants and landscaping, fully accessible paths, benches and bridges have been installed so that everyone can visit and enjoy this wonderful feature.
Berewood will feature two allotment sites (North & South) within the development, each equipped with dedicated parking. The allotments will form key features of the development and ensure residents of all ages can enjoy
The northern allotments which are situated north of Elm Green, will include several raised planting beds making this more appealing to those with limited mobility.
The southern allotments, located next to Orchard View, is the larger of the allotments and will provide larger planting beds.
Details on how to apply for an allotment will be released in 2025.
Local Centre
The Local Centre will form a key aspect of the Berewood Development. It is expected to incorporate a number of functions such as a community hall, nursery, commercial units, extra care facility and medical centre.
The current Community Hall is a temporary building, home to Newlands Parish Council office and the Grainger Plc team.

Commercial Spaces
Proxima Park is a high specification multi-unit industrial park with warehouse and build to suit options available.
Located at the northern end of the site, it is set away from the residential areas.
Waterlooville is an established industrial distribution location with an excellent labour pool.
