Harmonix Construction and Tetra Tech clearing the tree guards
In January and February two of our supply chain partners Harmonix Construction and Tetra Tech volunteered for two afternoons clearing the tree guards that had been in place for almost ten years adjacent to the large balancing pond in Oak Vale. Tree guards are put in when new trees and shrubs are planted in an area to protect them from the elements and wildlife. These tree guards are made of a non-biodegradable plastic so it’s important to remove these when the trees and shrubs reach maturity. The images show how much better the area looks, with the plants having more space to grow and the wildlife having a safer area in which to nest and feed. The plan is for the Town Park Phase 2 works to have degradable tree guards where possible in the planting areas.
