Community engagement

Grainger work with supply chain partners / local training providers / community groups and charities to facilitate a wide range of opportunities to benefit the local residents.  Over the last twelve months this has included children’s art and music workshops, nature walks with HIWWT, construction site tours for local students, litterpicks, faith celebration, careers event, money fun event with citizens advice, careers talks and workshops in schools.  The Grainger team run a drop-in surgery twice a year in March & September for residents, and the wider community, to come along and ask questions about the development.  For information on the next event email [email protected].

Resident stories

Myself, Anna and Tilly our dog, enjoy walking around the area, particularly along the River Wallington as it is so peaceful and watching the wildlife.  We love living here and seeing new people move onto the development, it’s a really welcoming place.  We have joined the Newlands community group and there are so many activities to join in with.  I am a wheelchair user and find the accessibility routes easy to navigate and I regularly meet with the Grainger team to continue to increase accessibility across the development.

Andy Denholm
Vice-chairman on the Newlands community group

As a local resident and Parish Councillor, the Council are passionate about the conservation of the wildlife around the development and making this a safe, happy and inclusive place to live.

Cllr David Crichton

Being part of the Berewood/Newlands estate for several years has been a really positive experience. It’s been great to see the development progress and new areas take shape. I’m especially looking forward to the new dog agility park and the school opening in September.

There’s plenty to enjoy in the area, from scenic walks to local events, and it’s been lovely to see how much the community benefits from these shared spaces. My children have been very happy here, and we’ve always felt safe and supported.

It’s a well-connected, welcoming place to live with a strong sense of community.
