Notice due to excessive rainfall

The ponds form part of the development’s SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems) surface water system. They are specifically designed to hold and store water during periods of heavy or prolonged rainfall. By temporarily filling, the ponds slow the rate at which surface water is discharged, helping to manage flows and reduce pressure on the drainage network before water is released in a controlled manner to the River Wallington.

While higher water levels can understandably look concerning, this indicates that the system is operating exactly as it has been designed to do. In addition, the ponds include built-in overflow features which are fully contained within the pond areas. These provide an additional safeguard in the unlikely event of a blockage, preventing the ponds from overtopping.

The ponds are inspected and checked regularly as part of our ongoing maintenance regime. Nonetheless, we have organised daily walk arounds during this time to ensure everything is functioning as expected.
