Proposal for Second Primary School
Hampshire County Council have launched the pre-planning consultation for their proposal to build a new 1.5 form entry primary school (315 places) together with a resource provision for an additional 8 children at Berewood.
This consultation will run until 7 April 2023.
The proposed new primary school is planned to open in September 2025 and would admit up to 30 places for Year R (age 4+) and will grow over time to a total of 45 pupils per year group, an overall total of 315 pupils. The school will also provide places for 8 pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The demand for additional places arises as a result of the development of Berewood and Wellington Park. Berewood Primary School opened in September 2014 as a 2fe (420 place) school. The second primary school will be a 1.5fe (315 place) school, intended to open in September 2025.
A drop-in session where you will be able to discuss the proposal with County Council Officers will take place on Thursday 23 March 2023 at Newlands Community Hall, Newlands Avenue, Waterlooville, PO7 3BX between 3pm and 6pm.
If you wish to make a comment on the new primary school proposal, please write to Francesca Godden, Strategic Development Officer, Children’s Services Department, Elizabeth II Court, Winchester, Hampshire, SO23 8UG or by email to: strategicplanningunit@hants.gov.uk by 7 April 2023.
You will of course have a further opportunity to comment on the school proposals as part of the formal planning process.
